The Ohio Dermatological Association, in partnership with the OSMA, is requesting your support in opposing the Ohio APRN Independent Practice legislation. Monica Hueckel, ODA lobbyist and OSMA VP of Advocacy, has been working diligently to prevent this bill from advancing. At this stage, we are asking our members to take action by completing the VoterVoice link below to help strengthen our opposition. If you have already completed the VoterVoice, we greatly appreciate your support!

Please review Monica’s instructions below for details on how you can participate. If you have any questions, feel free to reach out to me.

Stop Ohio APRN Independent Practice Legislation!

The Ohio House Medicaid Committee could possibly vote on APRN independent practice legislation, HB 508, within the next several weeks. As you may know, HB 508 would eliminate the current requirement that APRNs collaborate with a physician to practice in Ohio and allow them to practice independently if the APRN has practiced in a clinical setting for 5,000 hours.

We need your help to push back on this legislation! Please take a few moments and click the link below to send a letter to your elected officials and urge them to NOT support HB 508.

They need to understand that physicians and APRNs are not interchangeable, and that Ohio physicians will not stand for this unnecessary and unsafe change to APRN scope of practice!

Thank you,

Monica Hueckel
